Covid 19 impacts our daily life in various ways. In this article let’s see how Covid 19 impacted education. Our once normal classes have transformed into online classes. Our gadgets help us tremendously with our education.
Covid 19 & Education – Study
A recent study conducted in South Africa, by the World Bank, highlights the need to enhance quality in education. The study went as far as analyzing the difference in life expectancy between people living in the Atlantic and those living in the Pacific Ocean. The results were startling. They showed that those living in the ocean were much more likely to die before reaching retirement age.
So, the question is how does life expectancy influence the impact of Covid 19 on education? One possible answer is that those living in the ocean had a life expectancy of ten years less than those living in the Atlantic. That may seem like a profound finding, but it needs to be seen in context.
The fact that life expectancy is a strong predictor of school achievement has been shown over many studies. Life expectancy is influenced by a host of factors including race, gender, social class, etc. So the idea that life expectancy is influencing educational attainment is not new. It just may not have been known that it was. However, it is something worth considering in the context of the Impacts of Covid 19 on education.
What is important to remember is that the life expectancy figures are only indicative of life expectancy. They do not tell us what will happen to an individual after he or she has left school. For example, they may still live in the same area and they may end up doing the same job. Likewise, they may live in a different county and work in a completely different school. Therefore, the figures provided by the study cannot be taken to represent anything other than the life expectancy at the time of graduation. It is important to bear this in mind when considering the implications of Covid 19 on education.
Detailed View:
First, researchers can look at how the changes in rates of graduation affect children who would otherwise be graduating from high school. This is because some of the schools within these local areas might have a higher rate of dropouts than others. Secondly, researchers can examine how the rates of dropouts varies by gender and race/ethnicity.
When researchers carry out studies of the effects of Covid 19 on education, they are interested in two main groups of schools. One group of schools is located within the school districts of the parents and the other is located outside the district but within the state. Most states tend to have one high school, although there are some exceptions. A school within the local district might therefore be more likely to show an impact of Covid 19 on education than a school outside the district.
The schools within the school districts tend to have a higher dropout rate than high schools outside the district because many of them are very expensive. In general, students who attend high schools with a large number of students who drop out will also have a high dropout rate. The correlation between a school’s dropout rate and the rate of change in earnings is therefore likely to be negative. This is one of the reasons why the impact of Covid 19 on education is likely to be quite small.
Parents might want to do something about this situation if they are finding it hard to pay the cost of educating their children in these expensive high schools. There are several things that parents can do. They can choose to send their child to private or parochial schools, which will likely cost less than going to state schools. Parents can also opt for charter schools or virtual schools, both of which tend to cost less than regular state schools but have almost no teaching staff. These options might help them bring down the cost of sending their child to a high school.
Other reasons:
Numerous people lost their jobs during this pandemic & that also affects giving the basic education their child require. There are many who cannot afford getting a smartphone to assist them with online classes. This is especially true in rural areas. On top of that unexpected death of the parent has forced many to dropout their studies.
From this study it is clear that the cost of education is the major reason which impacts education. There are many other reasons which impact education. Many Government’s provide aid & there are many schemes that might help a child with their studies. Let us use our resources wisely and help people struggling with these type of issues.
