There is no doubt that mental health can be the key to success in life, or it can be the cause of all sorts of problems if it’s not well taken care of. I am going to explain some things about mental health, and how you can use them to keep yourself in good shape through a checklist for your mental health.

First pay attention to mental health:

The first thing you should do is pay attention to your mental health. That sounds simple, but in most people it gets overlooked. Everyone knows that we have to

  1. eat right,
  2. stay active,
  3. get enough sleep, and
  4. take our medication on time.

These are all important to our mental health, and if you’re not doing these things you need to make a list of them and make sure you are doing them.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. We do not want to overwork our bodies, we want them to be able to recover from the stresses we go through in a reasonable amount of time.

1.Exercise :
Having regular exercise can play a big role in how well you handle stress. Keeping fit keeps you healthy and mentally stimulated. It will help you cope with daily tasks and will improve your mood. If you find that something is causing you stress, see if there are exercises that you can do that will help you relax.
Getting enough sleep each night can really help you in keeping your mental health in check. We often put ourselves to sleep at odd times. If you don’t get a good night’s sleep, you may start to feel fatigued. A good nap during the day can really help you feel good and ready to take on the day.
3.Positive attitude:
Having a positive outlook can help you to maintain your mental health. People who have a negative outlook on life are more prone to depression and other mental health issues. Keeping a positive attitude can be difficult but is something that needs to be worked on.
4.Meditation & other relaxation techniques :
These can help you achieve peace of mind. Stress can have a negative effect on your health and by relaxing you can combat this problem. Finding ways to keep your mental health in check is essential. You need to know how to manage yourself and keep your emotions in check. It takes practice to overcome such issues, but it can be done.
Keeping a diary is a great idea to see if anything changes. People who write regularly will see any pattern developing and can take steps to prevent an issue before it happens. A lot of the problems people face are due to a change of lifestyle and not always due to mental health issues. This will enable you to plan ahead and prevent issues before they happen.

7.Negative people:
Staying away from negative people and situations can help you fight off stress and keep your mental health in good condition. If you don’t socialize much, you should join a group that you enjoy. If you feel down, do call your loved ones & this goes both ways. You can also help out your friends and that might make you feel better. If you feel you cannot rely on anyone you can seek help via helpline.
10.Try new things:
You can try out new activities or hone your skills in a activity you are confident in. Come out of your comfort zone & take a leap of faith; you might even surprise yourself with the outcome.
11.Few activities which might boost your mental health:
Spending time with a pet animal, playing indoor & outdoor games, singing, listening to songs/podcast, breathing exercises, limited screentime, reading, gardening, etc,.
